Who is The Nubian Angel?

My name is Charles Antoine Louis, Jr. I was born on January 30th, 1977, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti; one-thirds of the beautiful island in the Caribbean called Hispaniola. I was raised there for over seventeen and a half years. I grew up in a family where life was what we made of it. I enjoyed living there. I did my elementary, primary, and secondary studies there, until the 11th grade. I moved to the United States in June of 1994. I graduated from a local high school in Miami, in June 1995, from North Miami Senior High School. I went on to college at Miami-Dade Community College, where I spent three years, and I'm now enrolled at Nova Southeastern University, in Davie, Florida where I'm studying to become a dentist. It's always been my dream, and I do hope, with the Grace and Blessings of the Lord, to reach my goal. I will be enrolling at BCC (Broward Community College) to study Dental Hygiene, which I will complete, with God's grace within a couple of years. However, I plan on pursuing my goal as a dentist in the future.

The things that I like to do:

~As you may already have noticed, just like the Island Princess, I'm a poet. And with my spare time, I like to read and write poetry and love songs.I enjoy listening to music such as R&B, SOUL, Latin, Gospel, a lil Country every now and then, Instrumental, Classical, and some Jazz. I love to chat and meet new people on line, surf the net, and experience new things. I love to drive, cruise around town and I enjoy being with cool people who are very open-minded, and most of the time, I am just being me...

My Family

I moved to Miami, FL. with my mom and brother, in June 1994. We've been living there, trying to build a new life, for a better tomorrow. We are currently living with some family, relatives I should say, while my brother and I go to college, until we can get our own place...We have the fortunate chance to have our mother with us. Why fortunate chance? Because not every kid from overseas, has the chance to have their parent(s), live with them, when they have to go through life, at our age, through the perils and trials that we have been going through. She loves us dearly, our mom, and for her I'd give my life. My parents have been divorced now for over a year now, after more 23 years of marriage, such a shame!! But throughout our whole life, mom has been there with us, through thick and thin. She is the greatest, and if we are the men that we are today, it's thanks to her. She showed us how to love, how to go through life, how to be strong and respectful towards others, and how to care for other people. She also taught us to have the greatest admiration for women, whom we respect and honor with all our hearts, as we respect her...and I love my mom more than anything in this world, and I hope that someday, I can give her back all that she has given me, but nothing in this lifetime would ever amount to the pains and sufferings she lingered just for us,so we can have a better life than the one she had.

"I love you, mom...always and forever..and beyond! You will always be my 'favorite girl'..."

~My dad is a well-known dentist in some of the South East/South West regions of Haiti, in cities such as Miragoāne, Fond des Nčgres, Petit Goāve, Grand Goāve, and many more. He works most of the time and is currently looking forward to retire. Hard worker, and very intelligent. I love him very much. And I realize that we have our differences. But what father and son who don't have any? My dad is a good person, and I respect him very much. And I miss him a lot. If there is one thing that I've learned from my dad is to NEVER MAKE A PROMISE YOU DON'T INTEND TO KEEP. And even since that day he told me this, it has followed me through the years, and I've kept it deep within my heart, and I use it every day of my life. And I NEVER make a promise that I don't intend to keep, cause when you break a promise to someone, you break it to yourself as well. And I thank my father for teaching me that. And I love him from the bottom of my heart.

"I love you, papi. I always have and always will. And even if sometimes, you doubt my love for you, know that my love is true, and it's there for you...and always will be. In spite of our differences, you are my father, and I'm your son. NOTHING and NO ONE will EVER change that. I love you, Pap...forever and always."

~I have one brother who is 3 years younger than I. We've never been apart our whole life. Until he decided to go away for college. He's real cool, and I love him like he was my son. We have been through a lot together, and we share a wonderful brotherly relationship. We've been there for each other, and no one, and nothing will ever break the bond that we have. He entered the University of North Florida, in Jacksonville, FL in the fall of 1998 where he majors in International Business Administration. He's a great singer, very enthusiastic, intelligent, great at heart, smart, kind and just another Louis. I write some songs for him and we sing together as I play the piano. We love to spend time together every summer in Miami, hanging out at the coolest places there, like South Beach, Coconut Grove, Bayside...and many other cool places. We just have that brotherly love going...It's always good to have him around, and I miss him.

"I love you, bruh!!..You're the greatest."

Personal Insight

It has been a great honor for me, The Nubian Angel, to collaborate with the Island Princess to try our best to make this web page a success. It has taken us a while to put it together, and this is just the beginning. We still have a lot to do, and we know that by the Lord's grace, and by believing in ourselves we can make it a great success, as we work together, in harmony and love. We hope that our efforts aren't in vain, and that we can provide a closer look and an insight into Our Island Roots, for those who are natives from the island, like me, and also for those who were born overseas with parents from the island but who never got the chance to go visit or to get acquainted with the country's history, pride, and beauty. And this site is also for those who aren't at all from the island but who would like to know more about our pride. The Princess and I truly hope that these pages can satisfy everyone's curiosity and taste for knowledge about our beautiful country, Haiti; and we also hope that you will enjoy your stay here, for it is home to everyone who needs an escape, a refuge from the rest of the world.

May you be blessed today, and may the Nubian Angel watch over you always...carrying you away from it all.
